Inspiration is something that I have struggled to find within the thoughts that circle upon the ‘what ifs’ as an artist, the ‘am I stepping properly?’ mindset and the general artist’s self-criticism. BUT, this week, this week provided not only that spark, it offered the knowledge, the wisdom, the power AND the understanding.

ATL, FIND OUT about that Art is King movement providing what you need as an artist that seeks progression and appropriate self-representation. What more could you want than a host like Dan Dacreativegenius Flores exposing you to an expert sounding board through 8 weeks of artist panels, an opportunity to enroll in the League of Art Entrepreneurs to learn branding and legalities towards self-preservation and the network that only those holding Art as King could provide.

Panel #1:  The Way of the Freelancer

Host:  DTM, Dan the Man & Art is King

Panel: Dubelyoo, Kat Goduco, Fabian Williams & Mister Soul

Sponser: Binders ATL, Ponce City Market Locale

DTM introduced the panel and its audience to the main reasons Art is King is offering this unmatched opportunity in the ATL to learn and grow as an artist. These marbles of wisdom include the collective artists’ needs to:

1. Break down walls

2. Understand that artists “must share” to activate challenge and collaboration in tandem,

3. Open networks, and

4. To prosper as individual artists and an artists’ collective.

Taking the time to support the audience in knowing that they are not alone via experience or sentiment while traveling the path to their creative expression and independent fR.E.A.D.om, the panel via DTM’s expert guidance led a discussion that quite literally made me feel like I could breathe, focus & keep one foot in front of the other.

Stay tuned for the audio and recap to be provided via www.artisking.org or via the Art is King page through FB. For those of you that just can’t wait, savor these few tidbits that SAO SpeaksVolumes & SAO Photography were able to capture:

What Does Freelance Mean to You?

Fabian Williams: "Freelancer equals an artist for hire based on any length contract. While there is no corporate buy-in, bet on your work being altered…".

Mister Soul:  "Remember to ask yourself, ‘How do I own this?’, and operate in full protection of such."

Kat Goduco:  "Educate on the business of your business."

How Do You Maintain Balance?

DTM: “The balance is putting out the work you can sell to afford time for what you really want to create.”

Dubelyoo: Develop and nurture a strong work ethic because, “If you haven’t pulled a 24-hour (Mister Soul interjects with an upgrade to a “40-hour”) work-a-thon, you should probably work harder.

On Social Media and Just Freelance in General:

Dubelyoo:  Don’t take social media too seriously as “there’s a difference in being great and being popular”.

Kat Goduco: Just know that “it’s not easy, but it’s effortless”.

Mister Soul: Artistic families and affiliations are essential.

In summary, this panel wants us to realize the main concepts, the paramount priorities that will help projects reach fruition and proper value to be earned:  COMMITMENT, RESILIENCE, PROFESSIONALISM, CRAFTSMANSHIP, GRADUAL GROWTH, PRESENTATION, CONFIDENCE & TIMELINES.

CALLING ALL ARTISTS!!! Join the next 7 weeks of panels to extend your knowledge and your network!  FIND OUT, follow and support ART IS KING!! And always, “Surround yourself with other artistic people”. ATL take your art and your artists more seriously and commit to that art life. PERIOD.

Stay tuned for greatness and know that your greatness is waiting for you where ART is KING!
