One of the biggest issues facing the creative future is Ai and the Electronic Frontiers Forums was present at this year's Dragon Con in Atlanta, GA to share a bit of what we should expect coming soon. 

Dragon Con is the biggest convention in the South East featuring pop culture, fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, art, music and tons of creators showing off the most amazing art and goods in five days during the Labor Day weekend. whew! 

Our focus when visiting Dragon Con, is the Art Life of the creatives who invest their time and resources in promoting their art wares, sharing their cosplay creations and building community with like minded creatives. 

This year we visited the Comics and Pop Artist Alley, The Art Show and caught up with the future of the arts where the focus was the advent of Ai, the metaverse, Web3 and NFTs. 

The biggest takeaway in the conversations: keep creating and enjoy the experience for now.

Start where you Are Now.

I have collected different tools and gear these past few years. I slowly added a tool or two to my streaming setup as I realized some of my tools were faling a bit short. My first microphone was just the basic mic in an iPhone. My first camera was an iPhone 4. When I was recording the Art is King podcast, I used an android app and had several cheap android phones to capture audio.

We start with the tools we have right now. Master these tools. Then slowly buy the next tool that will get you the audio and video quality to the next level. Slowly level up, it is not a race.

Building the Brand!
Run of Show, Streaming Checklist, Show Notes and  then Social Media promotion/marketing.

1. Pre Show Streaming Checklist
   1. Get into your Creative Zone - Habits
      1. Get your favorite drink
      2. Comfortable chair
      3. Favorite drawing devices and tools
      4. Sketch a little a couple of hours before going live
   2. Internet Connection
      1. Test that you have a strong connection on your device. Wired is better!
      2. Turn off unnecessary devices, laptops, gaming consoles, and anything that is tying up the internet.
      3. Restart your computer, and check for updates.
   3. Streaming App Preparation
      1. PC, Laptop or Mac. Make sure your streaming  app is working.
      2. Equipment - connect your devices, phones, webcams, microphones and test!
      3. Overlays, make sure the correct hashtag is included in your design, your name in the lower third and a call to action screen/link is visible
      4. Picture in Picture options - You, Your Guest, Desktop, iPad Screen, Surface Screen, Overhead Camera
   4. Your Equipment - set up and test your equipment at least one hour before show time. Sometimes restarting a device will help troubleshoot any issues.
      1. Lights - Turn them on,  make sure they are aimed at the subject, you or your content.
      2. Camera, phones and webcams
         1. Check that the camera has enough light to see.
         2. Clean the lens and
         3. resize your frame!
      3. Microphone - test your audio gear by recording a bit. Test Test Test!
      4. Background - remove any distracting objects from your background. Organize and clean up your desk
      5. Headphones - to hear your guests and your people on discord
   5. Your Notes
      1. Have an outline of your topic
      2. bullet points
      3. links
      4. text copy
   6. Run of show
      1. Stream Intro - video, music, show intr Bree  or a basic image screen, identify who we are
      2. Welcome Live Viewers - make watchers feel appreciated
      3. Share Agenda - give watchers a heads up on what you are going to share today.
      4. REMEMBER TO LOOK AT THE CAMERA 
      5. Go! time to get to the topic at hand.
      6. Thank Yous - give a shout out to anyone who leaves a comment in the chat or joins you in the Discord.
      7. Call to Action - Like and Subscribe
2. Post Show

Artist, please don’t chase the money
For an Artist, there's a difference between Chasing the Money and Following a Lead. The difference is a Professional comes prepared to make a deal!

But what does that mean?
That means that you must stop acting like a person who is looking for a chance to be put on. Stop looking to be given answers from anyone you ask from.

The professional artist gets to the pro level by building the art biz education, connecting with arts organizations, building relationships with successful artists to be mentored and given advice.

The Professional artists knows what lane they are in and they control it. Your lane may be comic art, fine art, graphic design or 3D Animation. Control of that lane means the artist puts in a lot of work to become top of their craft. Those artists are cranking out artworks
Building Art Biz Education is the hardest part.

Everybody can draw, but not everybody takes their time to read a contract, learn to write a contract orconsult with an attorney before signing a contract.

But I didn’t come up with this process. I kinda did, but only thru observation. Lots of observation.
The roadmap is evident everywhere. There are artists giving back all the time thru panel discussions, meet ups, mentoring and business coaching.

Theres so much information available to artists today that theres no reason to walk around blindly.
Atlanta has a thriving arts community filled with info, it's like there are people out there who want to see artists succeed!
